Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the idea of inserting extremely thin needles into your skin at strategic points causing a balance of Qi within the body and helping stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissues.  It prompts for natural healing of the body as well as stimulated the nervous system to release chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain that will help influence the body's internal regulating system.  Acupuncture was first recorded to have been used in China thousands of years ago as a means of pain relief and to this day, it continues as a way for doing just that.

The reason as to why acupuncture is so beneficial is because it is all natural-- it doesn't involve medication and uses the body's natural energy to heal itself.  In fact, many people who've taken medication in the past and found no improvement from doing so were pleasantly surprised to find how beneficial acupuncture can be.

Is it painful?

Normally, people experience little to no pain.  It is almost like a tiny mosquito bite and sometimes the needles are even placed in areas where no pain can be felt at all.  Once the needles are in, there is no pain felt.  The needles are stainless steel and extremely thin, solid, and not hollow (unlike those of hypodermic needles).  The insertion will not be as painful as an injection or blood sampling.  We've had patients as young as 18 months who've had no problem with the acupuncture needles.  The needles are simply used to stimulate the body's meridians and help correct the natural flow of energy in the body without the usage of drugs or other synthetic material.

We ONLY use disposable needles!
